Reporting to the SVP, Finance & Corporate Administration, the Paralegal will be responsible for contract drafting and general legal work including drafting employment agreements, non-disclosure, production agreements, and services agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate various types of agreements including, but not limited to sales agreements, employment agreements, contractor / vendor agreements, production agreements, and partner agreements
- Keep abreast of state, national and international employment laws, especially as they pertain to studio and video production
- Maintain data privacy policy and stay abreast of state, national and international privacy laws (eg CCPA, CPRA)
- Prepare and maintain charts for various projects throughout the year, research issues for ad hoc intellectual property and production requests and prepare research memoranda,
- Develop and update standard forms & templates
- Review and assist with drafting and redlining any contracts that come in from the various departments internally within the company and review external agreements as well.
- Maintain all administrative duties with strong knowledge of legal processes and procedures
- Assist in responding to any claims
- Review and send out documents via Hello Sign or Docusign
- Conduct research, proof read existing work, and prepare regular reports and summaries;
- Interface directly with other executives and their support teams – your ability to work well with people on all levels is a very important part of your job
- Handle extremely confidential and sensitive information
- Maintain contract database
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years paralegal experience, preferably at a law firm or an in-house legal department at a studio.
- Experience and proficiency providing guidance on legal matters with moderate direction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client relationship and contract drafting skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables
- Complete reliability handling confidential, often highly sensitive information
- Desire to truly be helpful to your leaders and co-workers, to go the extra mile without being asked
- Effective organizational skills with careful attention to detail
- Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
